Station Road Closure: What Hest Bank Residents Need to Know
18th of March, 2026
Local drivers and residents should prepare for upcoming travel disruptions as a section of Station Road is set to close for over a month starting this April.
Lancashire County Council has issued a temporary prohibition of through traffic order to help manage traffic flow while essential works are carried out on the nearby A5105 Marine Drive.
The Details
The closure affects the stretch of Station Road from its junction with Marine Drive to the junction with Thorns Avenue.
-
Start Date: Monday, 6th April 2026 (from 07:00)
-
End Date: Sunday, 10th May 2026 (until 17:00)
-
Scope: Motor vehicles will be prohibited, though the works could finish earlier than the May deadline.
Access and Diversions
While the road will be closed to through motor traffic, the council has confirmed that essential access will remain:
-
Emergency Services: Full access will be maintained at all times.
-
Pedestrians: Access to properties along the route will not be affected.
Official Diversion Route:
To bypass the closure, drivers are advised to follow the signposted route via A5105 Marine Drive – The Crescent – Station Road (and vice versa).
Note: This closure is specifically designed to "ease traffic flow" while improvements are made to the main Marine Drive route, so expect slightly longer journey times during peak hours.
